International. Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) recently announced enhancements to its innovative Nexus Modular Hybrid Cooler, a plug-and-play smart modular hybrid liquid cooler for industrial HVAC and lightweight applications.
The Nexus Cooler, which was already exemplary for its low installation costs, low operating costs, low maintenance costs and maximum uptime, now provides top-notch water quality as a result of better water management, the company says. An optional water disinfection system is now available, and the product has been redesigned to meet strict local building codes regarding fire safety and noise reduction.
BAC Nexus Chiller Components
The Nexus plug-and-play smart modular hybrid chiller features an optional water disinfection system and complies with strict noise and fire codes.
The system was designed to minimize maintenance cost by reducing the volume of spray water by up to 60%, by allowing access to all components on the front of the unit and by operating dry when temperature and weather permit. It also reduces water treatment costs with its DiamondClear Design, which is designed to prevent standing water in the system and minimize scale buildup and biological growth. The new optional, compact and fully integrated ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection system completes the product's improved water management system. This UV disinfection system further minimizes bacterial growth, provides water quality, and improves health and safety, all without changing the footprint of the unit.
BAC notes that premium corrosion-resistant materials are standard on the Nexus modular hybrid cooler, reducing the need for maintenance, while fan and motor redundancy reduces unplanned downtime. There's no need for permanent ladders or elevated platforms to perform routine maintenance, making the Nexus Modular Hybrid Cooler safer overall than competing products, the company claims. In addition, new optional accessories are now available to further reduce sound levels and help meet strict fire codes and sound requirements.
The Nexus Cooler's simplified system is designed to offer a 15% reduction in system costs compared to traditional liquid coolers. Nexus eliminates the need for a heat exchanger or separate controls, and offers reduced water treatment requirements, with no need for sweeper pipes or side flow filtration. The compact design of the system makes it suitable for tight spaces, even indoors. This compact design also reduces installation costs, as the modules can fit in a cargo elevator, thus eliminating the need for cranes or helicopters, the company notes.
The innovative hybrid chiller is also designed to deliver up to 50% water savings and 40% energy savings. The iPilot control system automatically switches between three modes: fully evaporative, fully dry or balanced "Nexus mode", depending on environmental conditions, operational priorities and cooling demands. The Nexus Cooler is highly efficient thanks to patented hCore heat transfer technology and a direct-drive, variable-speed EC fan system, the company adds.
