Latin America. Trane, through its subsidiary in Mexico, shared some success stories it has done in recent months that have been focused on minimizing the impacts of the pandemic through its solutions.
The brand said it helped several temporary hospitals and testing facilities adjust their HVAC systems, create negative pressure and provide additional capacity that allows them to continue to care for patients safely. Here are some examples:
• We moved quickly to upgrade HVAC equipment from a hospital that needed temporary isolation rooms. In just 36 hours, we expanded its capacity to treat inpatients. We were also able to replicate the solution and apply it on another floor in a week.
• Trane participated in the conversion of an unfinished hospital wing to a 51-bed ICU facility. The team completed the project in just two weeks.
• Trane received a call from a hospital to upgrade a negative isolation room for critically ill patients. The room had been empty for 10 years, it was time to have to use it as soon as possible and in just a few days we were able to replace the pressure monitors in the room that were not working and repair the extractors to be able to give the negative pressure that is needed.
• When a medical facility had a critical need to upgrade air handlers in its operating rooms to treat patients with symptoms, our plant team accelerated production in an air treatment unit, shipping and installing it in two weeks.
Trane has also been active in the industry sector, such as emergency response to address unforeseen circumstances, such as equipment breakdowns. Here are some examples:
• A Trane customer operates a pulp mill that produces toilet paper, paper towels and other paper products. Recently, one of its chiller units from a competitor broke down. Since the plant already operates 24 hours a day to meet the demand up to date with the demands for paper products, closing was simply not an option. Trane staff moved quickly to deliver a rental chiller that she put back into operation.
• Our commercial HVAC team recently expedited the delivery of equipment for a laboratory that makes test kits. The equipment they delivered is now being used to produce 50,000 test kits per day.
"These times are difficult for our customers in different ways," said Carlos Garcia, CEO of Trane Mexico. "Our hospitals, pharmacies and supermarkets are responding to high demands, while shops and restaurants struggle to stay open. Our role is to maintain strong relationships, support them as we always have, and help them thrive."
