United States. Carrier Transicold donated refrigeration equipment for the Model 35X truck to Gleaners, a community food bank located in southeastern Michigan in the United States.
This altruistic action was made possible by its national donation program in partnership with Feeding America. The unit will be used to support the School Food Mobile initiative, which delivers nutritious food and milk to school-age children, who have been affected by school closures as a preventive measure against COVID-19.
In response to the global pandemic, Carrier Transicold explained that it has prioritized its funding to food banks, where the need for refrigerated transportation and temporary cold storage has increased.
Carrier Transicold has also donated a SupraTM 950 refrigeration unit to equip a high-capacity truck that will help boost the efforts and emergency response of Gleaners and its 66 new food distribution sites, designed based on the School Food Mobile program.
These distribution spaces provide nutritious food to students in low-income areas and positively impact 300 families by each delivering more than 15 kilos of food, including fresh vegetables, fruits, grains and lean proteins.
