Spain. Keyter takes a firm step in R&D&I and signs an agreement with SWEP International AB, a company specialized in plate heat exchangers for industrial, heating and air conditioning applications, for the exclusive use in Spain of Sealix.
This agreement involves the introduction of the latest technologies in the components used for the manufacture of Keyter equipment. Sealix is a plate heat exchanger with a protective layer of Silicon Oxide (SiO2) which allows it to obtain a resistance equivalent to a titanium exchanger in terms of corrosion, chlorine and salt resistance, but mechanically more robust to pressure, with better mechanical performance and reliability than this.
The custom organic functionalities of the Sealix layer modify the surface energy and improve the behavior in terms of fouling and fouling. This novel protective layer shows a lower adhesion of lime and greater decalcification capacity. While providing these advantages, it maintains the high thermal and hydraulic performance of BPHEs.
Sealix with multipurpose resistance since the same components can be used for salt water or chlorinated water, presents a clear benefit in its use in maritime applications, where corrosion is very high, allowing to withstand salt concentrations in water of up to 3.7% (only the Dead Sea has this concentration) and free chlorine of 300ppm.
In addition, this layer of SiO2 is certified for food use, since the treatment is the same as that used inside conventional soda cans. So it can be used for direct water exchange in food processes or even swimming pools.
It is undoubtedly an absolute advantage in the useful life of the exchanger, increases the operational safety of the entire system and significantly reduces maintenance costs allowing the assembly of more compact and economical air conditioning equipment since in applications where previously we would have had to use titanium exchangers or Cuproniquel multitubular now we have this innovative technology that allows us to mount plate exchangers of smaller size.
