Mexico. This Tuesday, September 3, the XXVII edition of The Green Expo and the International Environmental Congress of Conieco, the fourth edition of Aquatech Mexico and the first edition of Intersolar Mexico were inaugurated.
From September 3 to 5, 2019, these events are held simultaneously at the World Trade Center in Mexico City with the participation of 350 exhibiting companies from 26 countries that will be promoting the generation of business, showing the most innovative solutions, sustainable brands, products and technologies in the areas of water supply and treatment; waste management and recycling; solutions for the efficient use of energy and the generation of energy from renewable sources; state-of-the-art technology and key information for the development of green works, among others.
According to José Navarro, Director of Tarsus Mexico, the Circular Economy plays a fundamental role in effectively using resources, creating new opportunities for economic growth, boosting innovation and competitiveness in our countries and mainly fighting against climate change, considered the greatest environmental threat in the history of humanity.
Mr. Carlos Sandoval Olvera, President of CONIECO, highlighted the importance of positively influencing young people to increase their interest in issues related to the environment. "In recent years the interest of students from different universities has grown and this year we provide scholarships for their participation in our congress, thinking about all areas of opportunity with a view to the future," he said.
Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director, Solar Promotion International GmbH, said Mexico is an attractive market for the solar energy industry. "Not only was more than one Giga Watt (1GW) installed here for the first time, but it almost reached the level of three Giga Watts (3GW), adding 2.8 Giga Watts in 2018. This is almost a factor of ten of 285 Mega Watts (285 MW) added in 2017 and catapults Mexico to first place in Latin America and seventh place in the world's top ten of installed photovoltaic capacity," he explained.
In the framework of the opening ceremony, the winners of the Aquatech LATAM Awards were announced, a recognition with wide prestige in the industry and commercial impact worldwide that recognizes the best initiatives, products and services for the water sector.
