International. Around the world, members of the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration industries were recognized for their important work in their respective industries during the first World Refrigeration Day, which was celebrated on June 26.
Embraco welcomed this special day of industry trade associations and professional entities that came together to recognize the important work and advancements in the industry over the past century, including:
- Proper preservation of food and beverages.
- Vaccine storage
- Organ transport
The nod to World Refrigeration Day came after British researcher and refrigeration enthusiast Stephen Gill suggested more than a decade ago setting the date. Recently supported by the UN, the celebration became part of the official international calendar of commemorative recognitions.
"The general public won't notice, but billions of lives are impacted daily around the world by the work of industry leaders looking to innovate and increase comfort and efficiency with less impact on the environment," said Kerry O'brate, Embraco's Aftermarket Senior Manager for North America.
Embraco annually invests up to four percent of its net revenue in research and development to bring the latest refrigeration solutions to its broad product portfolio, including the following segments:
- Home: home applications with airtight compressors for freezers, refrigerators, minibars, water filters and other household products that require refrigeration.
- Commercial: wide range of compressors and refrigeration solutions for convenience stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, fast food chains and medical and scientific applications.
- Distribution and resale: intended for the aftermarket, providing parts for distributors, retailers and installers.
With 47 research laboratories on four continents, Embraco remains ahead of global refrigeration trends, such as:
More space: Currently, one of the biggest challenges in the industry is to produce smaller and smaller compressors, which guarantees more space inside refrigerators. It is about providing lighter and more efficient solutions, which benefit performance, logistics and material optimization.
Natural refrigerants: Research shows that, in the retail food segment, refrigeration consumes between 30 and 50 percent of the total energy consumption recorded. This is one of the largest fixed expenses recorded. Recent data shows that natural refrigerants bring more efficiency to solutions while reducing their environmental impact.
Reduced energy consumption: Variable speed compressors can ensure energy savings of up to 40 percent compared to a conventional compressor (on/off), as well as less noise and vibration. In refrigerators, this is known as "Fullmotion Inverter Technology". Since the late 80s, Embraco has been one of the pioneers in the application of this solution. Available in several models, the latest release, the FMX model, guarantees benefits such as better food preservation due to less temperature variation along with the ability to operate with voltage fluctuations, ensuring a lower risk of damage in the event of power loss.
High performance: Embraco is a manufacturer of compressors that offer high cooling potential, low power consumption and minimal noise. The combination of Fullmotion Inverter technology with the use of natural refrigerants produces unprecedented results in cooling solutions. In vertical refrigerators, common in supermarkets, for example, it is possible to reach the desired temperatures within 70 percent of the specified time, recording up to 33 percent energy savings.
