International. Modine Manufacturing Co. announced that it has been granted a patent for the Hot Gas Reheating System (HGRH) option used in its Atherion commercial packaging ventilation units. This patent is in addition to Modine's more than 2,400 global patents in the area of thermal innovation.
This patented design manages and reduces the refrigerant load required in a system (HGRH) while taking advantage of efficiency and performance improvements by using a full-height HGRH coil to heat dehumidified air in a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS).
"This patent continues to expand Modine's position as a leader in thermal innovation and thermal management solutions," said Mike Schires, senior product manager at Modine. "We are excited about how this technology delivers on our global commitment to providing sustainable and efficient products that transform the industry and exceed our customers' expectations."
The system is intelligently controlled by the advanced microprocessor-based Modine control system to ensure precise control of the supply air temperature while maintaining the subcooling of the system's refrigerant through a reduction of the overall internal volume of the system.
Modine's patented design provides:
- The ability to adjust the total volume of the system. If low overheating capacity is required, a circuit is deactivated to lower the internal volume of the system and keep more coolant flowing through the system;
- The ability to vary the internal volume and allow reduced fan power consumption; and
- Fully modulating adaptive control for precise control of the supply air temperature in a wide range of operating conditions.
