Mexico. The Green Building Council (USGBC) announced that Greenbuild, the world's largest sustainable building congress, will arrive in Mexico City from June 19-21, 2018.
Greenbuild Mexico will be held in conjunction with Sustainability for Mexico A.C. (SUMe) and will provide a forum for the sustainable building community to unite, change and touch lives, revolutionize business and address essential issues, such as air quality, human health, energy use and global climate change.
"Mexico's architects, builders, energy companies, urban planners, businesses and government are working to create the sustainable cities of tomorrow," said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO of USGBC and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). "Mexico is home to nearly 1,000 LEED-certified projects, with a total of 31 million gross square meters of certified space. Bringing Greenbuild to Mexico this year will help continue to build the local foundation of sustainable buildings and more strongly engage the industry."
During the event, you will have the opportunity to hear the vision of industry leaders on the future of sustainable construction in Mexico. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to them, build professional and business relationships, and participate in workshops and get the latest research advances in the topic.
In 2017, the GBCI and SUMe created the GBCI Mexico with the goal of expanding access to sustainable building resources.
With an office in Mexico City, the alliance will provide greater support and access to training in GBCI programs, including LEED. "Today more than ever we have the opportunity to grow the sustainability industry in our country," said Luis Alberto Vega, president of SUMe. "We all talk about it and directly or indirectly we are participating in actions to improve the living conditions of those who inhabit this planet. Mexico is a benchmark for the Latin American region and joint actions such as GBCI Mexico and Greenbuild Mexico are a reflection of the effort and interest we have to act now."
