International. The Carel Group announced that, ahead of the expected expiration for fiscal year 2018, it has completed the transition to the 2015 version of ISO 9001 simultaneously at all of its seven production plants.
The company explained that the registration has been issued in accordance with the multi-site registration scheme of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, part of Lloyd's Register Group, one of the leading independent service providers for ISO certification worldwide. The multi-site approach was a requirement of Carel, in order to ensure a group approach in which the entire organization worldwide is considered as a single set of companies that share the same approach. In fact, all Carel sites managed the transition to the new revision of the standard together.
The 2015 revision of ISO 9001 represents a significant turning point in quality management by including risk/opportunity management, and shifting the quality approach within the system to an anticipatory approach, which perfectly reflects Carel's quality mission.
Along with the transition to the 2015 version of ISO 9001, the Italian production plants have also completed the transition to the 2015 version of ISO 14001, the basis for environmental system management that has undergone the same improvement process as its "double" standard 9001, as well as compliance with the OHSAS 18001 standard in occupational health and safety.
Regarding the transition to the new ISO 14001 standard, Carel is currently actively introducing, as promoted by the 2015 version, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
"With this new development, together with the implementation of Italian Law 231/01, Carel has demonstrated, in all its actions, a total commitment to an ethical business approach and the highest environmental commitment," the official statement reads.
