Colombia. The Deputy Minister of Energy, Rutty Paola Ortiz Jara, said that this country has great strength by having an energy matrix recognized worldwide for being reliable and clean, she said during the 10th Annual Meeting of the Colombian Energy Sector.
"Our commitment to sustainable development and energy security is advancing, to the extent that we are promoting the introduction of renewable energies and diversification of the energy matrix to be better adapted to climate change," said the Deputy Minister of Energy.
"Although Colombia's contribution to the emission of global Greenhouse Gases is minimal (0.46%), we have an ambitious goal of reducing 20% of our emissions by 2030 for which the Green Growth Policy was created where the energy mining sector is a leader and for this we advance with strategies such as the promotion of energy efficiency and the active participation of users, an example of this was the Shutdown Pays program," said the Deputy Minister.
Likewise, the National Government is working on the energy transformation mainly in the transport and industry sectors. "We have established a roadmap for 0 or low emission vehicles. Currently, 0.1% of the Colombian automotive fleet are electric vehicles. The country has an approved quota of zero tariff for 45,000 vehicles between electric and hybrid by 2027, with which we hope to contribute to the energy transformation of the transport sector, "said Ortiz Jara.
On renewable energies, the official highlighted the progress that has been made. "We currently have more than 200 electricity generation projects from non-conventional renewables that have been registered in the Mining and Energy Planning Unit -UPME for renewable incentives, of which 56% is already in execution."
Additionally, to date, investments of more than US$5 million have been promoted in energy efficiency projects related to the use of waste heat, replacement of engines and massification of clean transport systems.
Finally, in her speech, the Deputy Minister of Energy highlighted the leading role of the energy sector in the post-conflict period and explained that with the signing of the peace, energy can be brought to all corners of the country to improve the quality of life for Colombian families in the most remote areas, contributing to the economic transformation. omics of the communities.
