United States. Midea announced that it has strengthened its presence in the U.S. with the investment of US$10 million in an R&D research and development center, located in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Midea Americas Research Center (MARC) will provide technical expertise in product development for the U.S. market.
The new 30,000-square-foot building will incorporate modern laboratory facilities, test equipment, and engineering areas, as well as office space for more than 60 people. Midea America's sales and marketing offices will continue at its headquarters in New Jersey.
Midea has also made recent acquisitions to bolster its R&D efforts around the world, including the purchase of home appliances from Toshiba's business in Japan.
