International. Danfoss announced that during this month of March, the T2 expansion valve turns 50 years old, and, at the same time, the company will set a record when the 50 millionth T2 valve rolls down the production line at the manufacturing facility located in Nordborg, Denmark.
Every day, millions of people unknowingly rely on the Danfoss T2 valve. Well hidden in plain sight, the valve is the heart of countless refrigeration systems around the world, ensuring proper food refrigeration and interior comfort. Over the past 50 years, the T2 valve has stood the test of time, and remains the expansion valve mostly produced by Danfoss.
Senior Vice President of Automatic Controls at Danfoss, Stephen Gugliotta, commented: "In the years since its initial launch, T2 has proven to be a game-changer for Danfoss attributed to its huge success in the market. It continues to be sold worldwide for use in a variety of refrigeration and air conditioning applications."
In 50 years the T2 valve has saved approximately 157,000 GWh in the thousands of applications in which it has been installed. To put this in perspective, the energy saved could be fed to Italy for six months, to Denmark for almost a year or to Argentina for more than a year.
