International. Chemours, Mexichem and Arkema have announced a 10 to 15% increase in the cost of several HFCs, a novelty that began to become effective on January 1, 2016.
Chemours has announced price increases for six of its refrigerants, including a 15% increase for the 404A. With effect from 1 January 2016 or permitted by contractual commitments, price increases in the European Union (EU) are in reaction to the "F-gas" Regulation, which reduces the amount of HFCs that can be placed on the market, on a CO2 equivalent basis, by 7% compared to 2015.
At the same time, refrigerant manufacturer Mexichem Fluor announced increases across its entire Klea range, also from January 1, 2016.
Prices will be increased by 15% for mixtures with the highest global warming potential (R404A and R507) and 10% for R134a, R407A, R407C and R410A. According to the company, the increase will allow it to continue investing in the development of new HFO products. In addition to reflecting lower availability due to quota reductions under the EU's #F-Gas Regulation.
Arkema has been the latest manufacturer to announce price increases across its entire range of refrigerants since January 1. The increases, which affect the packaging and high-grade sales of its Forane brand in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, add up to 10% to the cost of R134a and 15% through its range of blends. Forane refrigerant blends include R404A, R407A, R407C, R408A, R409A, R410A, R427A and R507A.
