United States. Guidance on how to reduce the risk of Legionnaires' disease through a recently published ASHRAE standard will be shared in a new course at the 2016 ASHRAE Winter Conference. The course is one of 20 that was presented at the conference and the 2016 AHR Expo.
"We've already seen real-life application of this rule when sections of it were adopted by the New York City Council after a deadly outbreak there," said Bill Pearson, a course instructor who was a member of the Standard 188 committee. "This course is designed to help prevent future outbreaks, showing the industry how to navigate the norm."
The 2016 ASHRAE Winter Conference will take place January 23-27 at the Hilton Orlando, while the AHR Expo will be held from January 25-27 at the Orange County Convention Center.
Attendees will learn how to use and comply with the standard; where Legionella spreads and who is at high risk for legionellosis; how to create a viable Legionella water management plan; and the responsibilities of engineers and project designers.
