International. The Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) announced that it has joined forces with ASHRAE. Under the consolidation, IAQA will become part of the ASHRAE organization but will operate independently with its own brand and board of directors.
"We are very excited about the opportunities this consolidation presents," said ASHRAE President Tom Phoenix. "This opens the door to aligning ASHRAE and IAQA programs to create high-impact resources for construction professionals around the world."
"This is a historic event for both associations and holds great promise for the growth and development of both organizations," added IAQA President Kent Rawhouser. "The opportunities and possibilities for members are only limited by our imagination. IAQA and ASHRAE are committed to the growth and development of the IAQA brand. Consolidation will open up new avenues for programs and benefits for our members."
ASHRAE first announced that it had agreed, in principle, to join forces with the IAQA in July. Since August, the two groups have undergone a period of due diligence. That diligence was completed in early January of this year.
The IAQA is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing practitioners together to prevent and solve indoor environmental problems for the benefit of clients and the public. IAQA was established in 1995 and is the largest indoor air quality trade association in the United States with more than 2,600 members and more than 20 local chapters nationwide and in Canada.
