El Salvador International Airport will have a new air conditioning system. By the end of August, half of the equipment will be installed, while the other 50% will be coupled at the beginning of next year, reported the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA) of that country.
The delay in the installation of the service was due to the fact that CEPA needed to tender companies, wait for the manufacture of the special equipment and install. The lack of an air conditioning system at the air station had already led to complaints from passengers and visitors.
According to the commission, the work is part of the 29 projects being carried out to rehabilitate and expand the Comalapa Airport in the department of La Paz.
This announcement was made within the framework of the signing of the agreement between the Autonomous and the Project Assistance Services Unit (UNOPS), which will be advising on the rehabilitation stages and will help shape the commercial policy, in order to enforce the 29 tenders optimally.
The remodeling project will also include works such as the recarpeting of the track, expansion of some areas, improvement of bathrooms and other services in favor of the well-being of the visitor, which will bring a cost to the Salvadoran government of US $ 70 million.
