United States. The US government, headed by President Obama, has already launched a project that seeks to reduce by 25% the energy expenditure of the federal building stock, which currently registers 2.8 million square meters in consumption.
The project, called "White House's Better Buildings Challenge" will have an investment of US $ 2,000 million for the improvement in the energy efficiency of these buildings. The money for this initiative will come out of long-term savings, which will not mean any increase for that nation's taxpayers.
The company that will lead the project will be Scheneider Electric, which expects to reduce energy consumption by 2.5% year after year; since 2004 the company has managed to reduce costs by US $ 18 million since 2004.
Following the signing of the agreement, Chris Curts, President of Schneider Electric North America, commented, "This program is a great example of how public-private sector collaboration can lead the United States to a more efficient and secure future. We are reducing energy consumption, but also creating jobs needed to better manage energy. It's a win-win project."
