United States. ASHRAE recently announced the installation of its new president for the 2018-2019 term, as well as executive committee officers and directors during its Annual Conference in Houston, which was held June 23-27.
The president of ASHRAE in 2018-2019 is Sheila J. Hayter, P.E., ASHRAE fellow. During his inaugural presidential address, Hayter announced that the theme of his leadership will be "Building Our New Energy Future." The theme focuses on the important role buildings will play in our energy future as the traditional power grid continues to evolve into a smart grid with advances in renewable energy.
"ASHRAE is eager to establish new networks and partnerships as we expand the Society's opportunities to engage many industry sectors that have an interest in our new energy future," says Hayter. "We will strengthen our leadership position by serving as a bridge connecting buildings, energy and the environment with new ideas and technologies to move towards a more sustainable world for future generations."
While serving as president of the Society, Sheila will continue to serve as group manager at the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. He will also chair ASHRAE's Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
