Inveravante, Manuel Jove's corporation, has launched its first wind farm in Canada, with 61.1 megawatts (MW) of power and which has involved an investment of 150 million Canadian dollars (about 107 million euros).
The facility has been promoted through Shear Wind, a Canadian renewables firm in which Inveravante controls 65% of the capital.
This firm also has a portfolio of wind installations that total about 1,000 MW of power to develop in the "medium term" and "continue to grow" in Canada, as reported to Europa Press in sources of the corporation.
At the moment, the 'Glen Dhu' park, located in the State of Nova Scotia, is the first to be launched and begins to produce electricity in the country since Inveravante took control of Shear Wind in October 2009.
The facility has 27 wind turbines manufactured with technology from the German Enercon and will be officially inaugurated on May 9.
With the purchase of this company, Inveravante positioned itself in the North American renewable market, where it currently continues to analyze different "profitable and efficient" investment opportunities in the United States.
GAS IN THE U.S.
So far it is present in this country through Vetra, an oil company also owned by Inveravante, with which it exploits gas fields in the States of Texas and Louisiana.
With Vetra, the corporation has oil and gas production activity in Mexico and Peru, as well as in the United States and Colombia, the latter country where it is headquartered.
In parallel to its activity in the Americas, the energy division of Inveravante (Avantegenera) continues to develop the projects it has in Spain and Romania, and continues to analyze opportunities in the rest of Europe and Morocco.
Manuel Jove's corporation expects to have a portfolio of renewable assets in operation of a total of 500 megawatts (MW) of power by the end of 2013. (EUROPA PRESS)
