National Geographic premiere in the United States a documentary called "The Last Lions" this documentary, shows us all the problems that these animals go through to be able to be at peace in their natural habitat, a territory completely invaded by humans. The documentary films a family of lions living in the Okavango River Delta, a river that crosses the countries of Angola, Namibia and Botswana on the African continent. Only 50 years ago there were more than 450 thousand specimens on this continent, now there are only about 20 thousand. The human being who destroys everything in his path to build and install factories.
The funny thing is that although we know that the lion is an endangered animal (and I think we all understand it that way) the United States government for example, does not include lions in this list, so thousands of tourists from this country, travel to Angola, Namibia and Botswana simply to hunt lions, it is like a whole vacation package, the locals charge for preparing expeditions where they assure the traveler that he will be able to hunt a lion.
This is known as "canned hunting" and the problem does not end there, the biggest prize of these travelers is to hunt the leader of the packs, and it is when nature comes and does its thing, the other lions begin fights to the death to take the leadership of the group, when one succeeds, he kills all the offspring so that the females have only children of him.
There are also other groups that support the hunting of these animals, ensuring that it is a great source of income for these countries, some environmental groups claim that lions could disappear in just 10 years.
Can you imagine a world where there are no lions? Imagine telling your grandchildren that you were able to see a lion live, and that they only know them from videos, photos, etc. chilling right?
This video shows us the trailer of the documentary made by National Geographic.
