Countless repercussions on social networks have provoked the campaign "No more newspapers of papel" that, as its name suggests, calls on Chileans to stop buying print media and prefer digital information.
The initiative was launched by the electronic magazine El Dinamo and, through a 2-minute video, exposes the environmental reasons why paper newspapers should end.
"Did you know that this week alone more than 5 million paper newspapers went on sale in Chile? This required cutting and moving more than 9,000 trees, the equivalent of 170 national stadium courts in forests," the animation begins.
The video also provides global data, estimating the distribution of the three main newspapers in the United States at 5 million copies per day, which translates into the consumption of 65,000 trees, or 1,300 soccer fields in forests each week.
To further extend the cause, the digital publication organized the Fiesta No Más Diario de papel, which featured Latin artists Bitman Live Set and Mc Chico Claudio at the Subterráneo de Providencia venue, starting at midnight on Thursday, January 20.
