This parameter is defined as the quotient between the total energy that enters the premises through the glazing and the total energy incident on its outer surface perpendicularly.
The total energy incoming the room through the glazing is the sum of the energy transmitted and the energy absorbed by the glass and subsequently transmitted to the interior of the room by convection.
It is represented by the letter g and its value is between 0 and 1. Its calculation method is described in ISO 15099: 20003.
The lower the solar factor, the greater the fraction of the incident solar energy is reflected to the outside by the glazing, favoring a decrease in the energy demand for cooling. The crystals that have lower values of the solar factor are the so-called low emissives.
It is also possible to modify the solar factor by using solar sheets adhered to them, they are composed of a polyester substrate to which an acrylic layer resistant to scratching and abrasion is applied on one side, while on the other an adhesive layer and a protector are applied that must be removed at the time of its application on the glass.
The adhesive used is a transparent, optically neutral substance, which is activated in contact with water, forming a perfect bond between the glass and the sheet during installation. This adhesive establishes a strong bond between glass and foil while providing transparency and longevity to the installation.
