Galp Energía has completed in the Algarve, in the South of Portugal, the construction of its first photovoltaic solar power plant to produce electricity, the company announced in a statement.
The new facility consists of 504 photovoltaic panels distributed over an area of 730 square meters, has an installed capacity of 100 kilowatts (kW) and an estimated production capacity of 157,000 kilowatt hours per year.
With the entry into operation of this plant, Galp begins the production and sale of energy to the electricity grid on a special basis from entirely renewable sources.
The photovoltaic power plant project is the result of the alliance between Galp and the Autódromo Internacional del Algarve, according to which the former will respond to all the energy needs of Algarve Motor Park by supplying not only solar energy, but also liquid fuels and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This alliance was recently extended to Galp Soluciones de Energía, a unit of Galp Energía specialized in the implementation of technological solutions and integrated energy efficiency services, aimed at reducing energy costs and CO2 emissions. (EUROPA PRESS)
