The Minister of Economy and Finance, Ángel Agudo, said on Wednesday, during the constitution of the working group 'Marine Energies', that in the Cantabrian strategy of marine renewable energies the European dimension is missing, "fundamental for our bet to be a success", he said.
During his speech at the event, which was held at the facilities of the Sodercan Group, in the Science and Technology Park of Cantabria (PCTCAN), Agudo said that transnational cooperation is the way to involve the EU in the Cantabrian strategy, through the Interreg spaces, so he valued the constitution of this working group within the framework of the European regions integrated into the Atlantic Arc.
"This group allows the regions of this space to be strong, to create a dense network of cooperation in this area, which is fundamental for the development of our economies and the Union as a whole," he said.
In addition, the Minister presented to the participants the trajectory of the region in the field of renewable energies since 2004, when the Government of Cantabria theorized the change of productive model in the Governance Plan until the last steps, such as the resolution of the onshore wind contest. "We've done a great journey in just over five years, but we still have a long way to go."
"We have the resource, we have the knowledge with some of the most powerful research groups in the world, we have the experimentation facilities with the inauguration in a few months of the large maritime engineering tank, we have involved the Cantabrian productive fabric involving companies from mature sectors and international companies, we have the industrial and technological projects within the framework of the wind contest, and we have the funding, through the ICAF and the agreement with the Ministry of Science and Innovation, "explained the counselor.
The event was also attended by Francisco Royano, General Director of Innovation and Corporate Strategy of the Sodercan Group; Inma Valencia, director of the Office of the Government of Cantabria in Brussels; and Fabien Mesclier, executive secretary of the Atlantic Arc Commission. (EUROPA PRESS)
