PET is a material with which we have contact practically every day of our lives, it is called so by its acronym in English "PolyEthylene Terephtalate" all the transparent plastic bottles that you find are PET. It is a very resistant material, lightweight, it is not toxic and the most important thing is that it is 100% recyclable, its process is very efficient but to achieve the results you have to complete the cycle of collection, recycling and finally manufacturing., that is the first point in which we can all contribute a little to take care of the plant.
When pet is thrown on the street or if it is deposited in the trash without separating it, it is contaminated and its recycling process is being much slower, so the first part of the collection is very important, not only do we avoid the accumulation of garbage, we also take advantage of resources to make new products. When this material is collected, it is decontaminated, compacted and stored. They then move on to the recycling stage through physical, chemical and thermal processes. Finally, products can be created from recycled material.
How can you help?
When you go to buy a product that is plastic make sure it is PET. You can easily differentiate it if it is transparent, but be sure to dispose of it correctly, before doing so, empty it, flatten it, close it and deposit it in a separate container. This way you will be saving time to the separation of garbage and the process will be much faster and more efficient.
