The candidate of ICV-EUiA to the Catalan elections, Joan Herrera, has proposed to launch a comprehensive energy plan with the aim of achieving that in 2020 25% of the energy consumed is renewable.

At a press conference held this Thursday at the Ribó wind farm, the ecosocialist candidate has also proposed the reduction of 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce the total energy consumed in Catalonia.

With this objective, Herrera has assured that Catalonia must invest in the development of wind energy, biomass and solar and geothermal energies that, in addition, for the ecosocialist, is also a way "to create stable and quality work".

In fact, he said that with the energy efficiency and renewable energy policy, 40,000 jobs can be created.

To this end, Herrera has spoken of the need to establish a green tax on energy consumption, favor the purchase of hybrid and electric vehicles that have recharging points, establish a tax on fossil fuels, occupational training plans for the energy sector and the creation of municipal energy agencies, among other measures.
