Students from all over the world travel through different cities in search of the universities they wish to enter, it is known by statistics that there are 2.3 million students a year in search of an economic place to live near their universities, and there are only 160,000 places available in residence.
Faced with this problem, the company Cattani Architects, developed a project that managed to inaugurate this summer in Le Havre (Upper Normandy – France). This is the "ECO-University City" is a set of 100 homes built with recycled containers adapted for a house, measuring 24 m2, each has its own bathroom, a kitchen and free Wi-Fi.
At first impression it may seem uncomfortable to think about living in a container, but Cattani Architects has managed to make it as green and comfortable as possible. All the houses are built under bioclimatic criteria, they are also located around an interior garden and have very large windows that allow great lighting inside.
Because they were students, special attention was paid to acoustic insulation, they used concrete walls 40 cm thick that include rubbers to absorb vibrations, so although the neighbors next door are very noisy, you can study quietly in your home.
