De la Vega is committed to alternative energies and green economy

The first vice president of the Government, Maria Teresa Fernández de la Vega, has pointed out that, in addition to Innovation, the alternative energy sector and the green economy "is where new sources of employment should be sought" and where, as she said, "is the key to recovery".

During the inauguration of the second edition of the Fingerplus Forum, De la Vega stressed that renewable energies represented 12 percent of total energy consumption in Spain in 2009, which, in his opinion, demonstrates "the clear commitment of the Executive" with this sector that has placed the country "in leader in clean energy".

Thus, he explained that renewable energies "generate approximately four times more employment than traditional energies" and stressed that "they have continued to grow despite the crisis".

For de la Vega, this situation is what has led the Government to "make an effort" in the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2011 and with the Sustainable Economy Law in order to "make the most of the full potential of the green economy and the knowledge society". (EUROPA PRESS)
