Red Eléctrica de España (REE) has put into service the extension of the Villanueva del Rey substation, located in the municipality of Écija (Seville), which will increase the capacity to evacuate renewable energies in the Area of the Seville Countryside.
In a note, the company points out that, with an investment of two million euros, this new electrical substation is put into service four years ahead of the planning to respond to the new renewable energy projects, both wind and solar thermal, that are being developed in the region.
The new Facilities in Villanueva del Rey are designed to evacuate up to 273 megawatts (mW) of solar thermal energy. Currently, a 50 mW plant is already connected, to which others will be added in the short and medium term, as the construction of the different projects in progress is completed.
The Villanueva del Rey substation is located on the Sevilla-Córdoba axis, where Red Eléctrica is making improvements to strengthen the area's transmission grid, through the expansion of existing infrastructures, such as the Carmona substation, and the entry into service of new lines.
The transmission infrastructures that Red Eléctrica plans to develop in Andalusia over the next few years represent an investment of 600 million euros, which will be executed in the period 2010-2014. These actions aim to strengthen the security of supply in the main points of consumption, the evacuation of the new generation and support the feeding of the high-speed train. (EUROPA PRESS)
