Spain. A Spanish supermarket chain reported a 60% reduction in energy consumption compared to a conventional supermarket due to the installation of cold, air conditioning and lighting systems and equipment.
The environmental measures that have been applied in the refrigeration facilities of the Eroski chain are mainly specified in the installation of a negative CO2 refrigeration plant and the positive one of R134 that provide significant energy savings and work with gases that respect climate change. This installation also incorporates a floating condensation system that reduces electricity consumption.
The refrigerated furniture consists of state-of-the-art furniture equipped with glazed doors that prevent the aisles of the store from cooling and guarantee a better conservation of the products by strictly maintaining the temperature at which they must be preserved, in addition to improving the comfort of customers.
To optimize the air conditioning, the energy model incorporates the installation of the roof top system with specific acoustic insulation for homes and a heat recovery system for the sales room that are added to the acoustic screens of the cold plant.
The climate is integrated into the management system, which controls temperature, humidity and air quality, with a remote monitoring system for events that increase electricity consumption. The change of weather conditions of each season is applied automatically.
The facility has network analyzers for consumption control integrated into its own analysis software, developed by the Eroski Energy team, which generates operating alarms when electricity consumption deviates from what was expected.
