Ecuador. Panasonic has developed ACH20 technology, a filtering system that purifies wastewater from air conditioning and makes it suitable for human consumption.
Air conditioning systems condense approximately seven liters of water every day; potentially drinking water that is wasted. In Ecuador, as in many other countries in the world, tap water is not drinkable, as it contains high levels of bacteria. In addition, due to high temperatures, a large part of the population has an air conditioning system.
By installing the ACH20 filtering system in the brand's air conditioning systems, there is a possibility of saving the necessary amount of water that a person needs to survive for a period of three days.
According to Panasonic, in a period of six months a total of five thousand filters have been installed in different places, resulting in 6.3 million liters of pure water that were recovered and 450,000 people who are now safe from water-related diseases.
"We created the ACH2O bottled water and shared it with the celebrities who drank it during their live TV shows. The filters were also installed throughout Ecuador, in public spaces throughout the country such as hospitals, universities, gyms, etc," the company says.
The Ministry of Water recognized Panasonic's ACH2O as one of the most innovative and effective water-saving projects.
