Brazil. A group of engineers from the electrical company Eletrobras has developed software to analyze energy efficiency in projects for the construction of buildings.
The application created in collaboration with the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, allows you to study the details of the construction such as color, height, location of walls and windows, sunlight, shade or humidity, to analyze how to get the maximum energy efficiency out of the building.
According to the newspaper América Economía, this "is a hydro-thermo-energy simulation software. In addition to analyzing heat exchanges in buildings, it also simulates moisture exchange," said Joao Krause, an architect with the state-owned company's energy efficiency division.
The software allows you to take advantage of the natural conditions of the property to achieve up to 50% efficiency in new constructions and 30% in renovated old buildings, compared to constructions without this study.
The programme is already being used in public projects, but will also be provided to the private sector at a later date.
