Chile. The inhabitants of the Valparaíso region opposed the creation of a wind energy project that would begin in Laguna Verde denouncing the destruction of the surroundings, so the managers of the plan were forced to suspend works.
The project contemplated the installation of 13 airmen, each with a power of 1.5 MW to generate a total of 75 GWh per year. However, the businessmen say that they received aggressions to the machinery by the inhabitants of the sector, so they decided to paralyze the work for fear that the actions will be repeated.
Nevertheless. in another point of the town, known as Llay-Llay, a new wind initiative is being developed that has an investment of US $ 108 million and that will install 28 wind turbines of 2 MW each for a total of 56MW of nominal power.
Similarly, the Las Dichas Wind Farm will be built in Casablanca, to which US$30 million will be invested for installation and operation and will have eight wind turbines that will produce 38GWH annually.
