Mexico. In the town of Durango, the national government plans to build one of the largest photovoltaic installations in the country and in Latin America.
It is a photovoltaic park that will be built in 18 phases with a power that varies according to the geometry of the facilities and that goes between five and eleven megawatts of power (MWp). In total the area reaches 275.78 hectares to generate an installed capacity of 128.7 Mwp.
The project area is located 18 kilometers from Durango in a forest area with low potential, which avoids damaging the environment, according to the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (Inifap).
The project has a program of restoration of areas during the construction and operation process that includes soil conservation works to reduce the fragmentation of vegetation and damage caused to wild habitat.
