Brazil. Three new wind power substations will be installed in Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of the country, in order to meet industrial, commercial and residential demand.
The Swedish company ABB has been awarded a contract for US$55 million and will be in charge of executing the project that is expected to be ready by 2014.
Brazil is the most important country in Latin America in terms of renewable energy implementation and currently has an installed capacity of 1,500 megawatts of wind.
The South American country is also the largest consumer of electricity in the region, boasting an electrical capacity of more than 100,000 megawatts.
