United States. The Gates Foundation's Seattle building earned LEED Platinum Certification for reducing water use by 79% and energy use by 33%, making it the world's premier building created by a non-profit organization that achieves recognition.
The building, directed by the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, and which donates around 22,000 million euros for social work in the world, has 4.86 hectares and an area of 83,600 m2, where 1,500 employees are located.
In addition, 60% of the total space of the property has been reserved for gardens and only 40% is occupied by the two work buildings, the conference center, the atrium and the reception. It also has a water management system regulated by about 8,100 m2 of vegetable covers that derive rainwater that becomes irrigation and filling of the flora that the installation has.
