Paraguay. The South American country joined the plan for the elimination of ozone-depleting substances and committed itself through the Ministry of the Environment to initiate the process of reducing Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs).
Following the Montreal Protocol, the Guarani country hopes to eliminate the consumption of these products that are used in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector by 2030.
Paraguay's strategy to eliminate 35% of HCFC consumption by 2020 is to create a system of import quotas for equipment that uses the products, since that nation does not produce or export the chemicals. The Paraguayan Chamber of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Mechanical Ventilation will participate in the reduction project, in which training and updating meetings will be held to certify workers to prevent illicit trafficking of the substance and its promotion.
