United States. A study published by pacific northwest national laboratory (PNNL) indicates that commercial and industrial buildings could save an average of 38% on their HVAC and refrigeration bills if they manage to install efficient HVAC systems.
In the report, NLP considers implementing four different control methods for existing rooftop HVAC . Using side air economizers, controlling the fan feed rate, identifying cooling capacity and using controlled demand ventilation are the recommendations they make to achieve the energy objective.
Analysts tracked the effects of using these methods with energy construction simulation software called EnergyPlus. The device created computer simulations that were taken into account in 15 climate zones in 16 large U.S. cities.
With the installation of these methods, PNNL indicates that the average percentage of cost savings varies depending on the sector: small office (46%), Stand-Alone Retail (43%), Shopping Center (35%) and supermarket (24%).
