Paraguay. A pilot project of certification by labor competencies for the refrigeration and air conditioning sector is being carried out at the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment (SEAM), through the Ozone Unit.
The program seeks to help and train technicians so that they can apply good practices in the profession for the correct management of gases and the use of alternative substances. The proposal was presented during the celebration of World Standardization Day, which takes place every year to commemorate the first meeting of countries on the new International Organization for Standardization (ISO). According to SEAM representatives, "the main objective of standardization is to generate technical tools to achieve innovation and competitiveness in local and international markets, based on the sustainable development of the political, social, economic, and environmental sector." In this case, the pilot project will begin with the refrigeration and air conditioning sector, as it is considered one of the industries with the highest use of ozone-depleting gases and thus comply with the agreement with the Montreal Protocol.
