Spain. Based on a concept of sustainable avant-garde architecture, the Spanish city is projected as a model of greencity. With ecological and intelligent spaces that have the capacity to produce most of the energy they consume, the metropolis undertakes this initiative.
The first to join the transformation is Plaza Milenio. Its dome was built in a material called "efte" that captures 90% of sunlight and emits only 80%, thus achieving natural lighting and cooling while generating most of the heating and air conditioning to acclimatize the 1,500 square meters of surface.
But the sustainability of this project lies, according to its creators, in the board of the Isabel la Católica bridge. Being the area most exposed to air currents, they give the necessary energy for the illumination of the bridge and the banks of the river. "Each generator produces 2.5-3 Kws and has a vertical axis so they will work regardless of the direction of the wind."
For Enric Ruiz, one of the designers, the reason for this initiative is to extend sustainable awareness so that the citizen has a new vision. "Just stand under one of the nine windmills that produce energy without making noise or spoiling the urban aesthetics or enjoy the outdoor vertical gardens. All this shows that Valladolid is taking leaps and bounds to become a photovoltaic, wind and natural city."
