USA. USA In five workshops, ASHRAE will present energy efficiency guides and information on best practices for data centers in New York State. According to the association's technical committee on mission-critical facilities, technology spaces and electronic equipment, the total energy use in data centers is estimated to be almost 2% of the country's total consumption, which is equivalent to about eight 1,000 MW power plants.
ASHRAE received $180,000 in financial support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to conduct the five free enrollment workshops. Topics to be covered are best practices and efficiency opportunities for operators, users, information managers, data center designers and consultants.
