Chile. The initiative seeks to continue the activities of certification of labor skills, providing an opportunity to technical women through a financial support system.
For these purposes, the Ozone Unit of the Ministry of the Environment of Chile will work together with the Center for the Evaluation and Certification of Cold-Heat Labor Competencies (CECCL ColdHeat), belonging to the Chilean Chamber of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning A.G. (CCHRYC AG), an evaluation entity authorized by ChileValora.
"Registration will be open until October 31 of this year, 2024. This is a benefit of the Ozone Unit of the Ministry of the Environment that is free of charge and only for women," says Claudia Álvarez González, technical coordinator of CECCL FríoCalor.
The goal is to certify 20 women technicians by 2024. The profiles in which candidates can be evaluated are:
- Installer/maintainer of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (domestic/commercial).
- Installer of air conditioning systems (industrial).
- Installer of refrigeration systems (industrial).
- Maintainer in HVAC Systems.
- Maintainer in Refrigeration Systems.
According to Claudia Álvarez, the choice of the winners depends on the work they do: "The evaluations of labor competencies, leading to certification, are carried out based on a job profile, which indicates what knowledge a person must have to properly exercise a trade or occupation, regardless of how they have acquired it."
Evaluation Process and Requirements
The evaluation process includes a theoretical and a practical part. The process lasts half a day (morning or afternoon), and consists of an interview, then a technical test and a case analysis (both with alternatives). Finally, a practical test is carried out with a model according to the chosen profile. This is done at the Cold-Heat Center Workshop in Santiago, on dates to be agreed upon by both parties.
The requirements to access this benefit are:
- Being a woman.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Registration form.
- Photocopy of the identity card on both sides.
- Evidence of at least 2 years in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning.
