International. According to the appliance manufacturer, the integration of Solstice refrigerant will help reduce the environmental impact of the residential air conditioning units produced by Hisense.
Solstice is a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant, which is why it is considered an energy-efficient alternative with excellent performance in both cooling and heating.
Hisense's decision to integrate Solstice refrigerant, produced by Honeywell, is in line with global efforts to phase out higher GWP refrigerants for air conditioners and heat pumps.
"Driven by a commitment to pioneer scientific and technological advancements, Hisense relentlessly strives to improve the quality of life and bring limitless joy to countless families," said Hao Wang, General Manager of Hisense's Supply Chain Management Department. "Our partnership with Honeywell is a tremendous leap forward in sustainability, as we integrate state-of-the-art refrigerants into our industry-leading air conditioning units, ensuring unparalleled cooling efficiency with minimal environmental impact."
The integration of Solstice refrigerant into Hisense units comes amid the recent increase in legislative mandates to reduce the use of high-GWP hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) in response to the growing global emphasis on addressing climate change. The partnership between Hisense and Honeywell also follows the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's recent announcement of a 40% cut in the production share of HFC refrigerants effective January 1, 2024.
"The world is moving away from high-GWP refrigerants, but it's also accelerating innovation to create responsible replacements that reduce carbon footprints and improve energy efficiency, all without sacrificing the safety and performance of the final product," said Jeff Dormo, president of Advanced Materials at Honeywell.
"Honeywell anticipated the need for these solutions more than a decade ago when we introduced our Solstice technology, and today we are pleased to be able to partner with manufacturers like Hisense who are leveraging our expertise to enhance their own sustainability efforts in alignment with the global marketplace. energy transition," the executive added.
