Colombia. A new warehouse for the city of Bogotá recently opened the wholesale chain, Makro, which is located in the town of Engativá.
This new headquarters of the Dutch wholesale chain located where the Makro Calle 80 parking lot was formerly located, made a significant investment in refrigeration systems.
For this 4,300-square-meter hypermarket, Makro chose Weston to supply and install a variety of eco-friendly options, including cold rooms, murals, refrigeration cabinets, self-contained panoramic islands and walk-in coolers.
Makro now has a transcritical CO2 cooling system, which reduces operating costs, does not affect the ozone layer and demonstrates the chain's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Here are some of the installed products:
- Walk-in Cooler (cover photo): It is one of the most striking equipment in the warehouse for its large size of almost 23 meters in length. It has a higher load capacity than a self-service and is ideal for a variety of products such as meats, dairy and frozen. It has an internal shelving that allows you to display and store products in the same space. In addition, its multiple doors allow products to be viewed from different angles, as well as being supplied from the inside without interrupting the shopping experience of customers.
- Mural for Fruver: This refrigerated display equipment was installed with adjustable shelves that ensure uniform cooling throughout the exhibition area. Due to its materials and robust structure, this furniture allows heavy work, greater load capacity and durability.
-Islands: They are self-contained with lateral and panoramic fronts ideal for freezing products. They reduce energy consumption due to sliding glass lids and natural propane refrigerant (R290).
- Tayrona showcases: It is ideal for the sale of meats, with curved and folding glass on the front for better cleaning. Additionally, they have an anti-fogging system on the front windows.
- Freezing multidoor: selected by Makro for areas such as fish, seafood and ice cream. The doors have triple glazing and a heated frame, ideal for saving energy and minimizing condensation when opening and closing doors. It is a robust equipment with great load capacity.
- Cold rooms: Cellars designed to suit the warehouse for processing rooms, refrigeration and freezing rooms. These rooms have CO2 detectors to comply with the good installation and design practices of this technology.
