United States. The North American Technician Excellence (NATE) commemorates its 25th anniversary, founded in 1997, based in Arlington, Virginia.
NATE is commemorating this special occasion throughout the year as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the people who helped make NATE the organization it is today.
"From our founding to the present day, the goal has always been to certify the professional competence of HVACR technicians and instill confidence in them, their employers and the consumers they serve," said John Lanier, NATE's chief operating officer. "The ways we have achieved this have changed over the years to accommodate the changing needs of technicians and contractors. Without the support of our industry partners, we would not be where we are today."
NATE said it prides itself on the industry support it has received over the years and continually strives to find ways to better support contractors and technicians.
With guidance and feedback from manufacturers, distributors, contractors, educators and technicians across the industry, NATE recognizes that it has seen extraordinary growth in recent years.
Since 2019, NATE has introduced Live Online Proctored (LOP) exams, the Certified HVAC Professional (CHP-5) certification pathway, Low-GWP Refrigerant certification, and official NATE study guides. The goal of each new role has been to provide the flexibility and resources technicians need to excel in the HVACR industry.
