International. Carrier's AquaEdge 19MV chiller was awarded as the 2022 commercial comfort product of the year in the cooling equipment category of Engineered Systems magazine. For this the cooling system was evaluated by a panel of independent engineers.
The AquaEdge 19MV was launched on the market in December 2021 and has a capacity of 300 to 700 tons (1055kW – 2461kW). One of its added values is that it offers the ability to operate even in severe conditions, which may arise either due to an unexpected operation of the building or extreme weather.
In addition, this device includes Carrier's consecutive Two-Stage EquiDrive compressors, with magnetic bearings, providing an expanded operating range while improving chiller energy efficiency and building resilience. Therefore, the AquaEdge 19MV can make the most of cold condenser water, cold water restoration and other energy-saving practices to further improve performance.
One of engineered Systems' jurors said: "The ability to operate in variable condenser and evaporator systems under a wide range of temperatures makes the Carrier 19MV a useful machine for a variety of applications."
This HVAC solution provides a balanced performance that includes a 10% improvement over ASHRAE 90.1 2019 route B with both full and partial load. This performance, combined with low-lift operation and fast restart times, makes the 19MV ideal for 24/7 applications such as hospitals and data centers, as well as its compato size that facilitates installation.
Tom Franaszek, director of global product management and water-cooled chillers at Carrier Commercial HVAC, commented, "In 1922, Willis Carrier invented the first centrifugal chiller, opening the door to large-scale comfort air conditioning, making modern living possible in many ways. One hundred years later, the 19MV builds on that legacy of innovation by creating a chiller that offers additional operating range and efficiency, unconditionally."
Finally, Carrier's BluEdge service platform is responsible for keeping the 19MV running efficiently throughout its lifecycle, with proactive solutions to reduce unplanned downtime.
