International. The Marley cooling tower brand, from the manufacturer SPX Cooling Technologies, celebrated its first 100 years, reaffirming its commitment to the offer of energy-efficient and sustainable components.
SPX Cooling Technologies, which holds more than 200 U.S. patents, in addition to market recognition for the design and manufacture of evaporative cooling systems and air-cooled heat exchangers, commemorated Marley's centennial with the publication of a company timeline, a video story, as well as a series of employee events, alumni, representatives and customers.
Ankush Kumar, President of SPX Global Cooling, commented, "We are excited to honor the founders of Marley Company, who have fostered a culture of long-standing curiosity, drive and inventiveness throughout our company. We are also happy to celebrate Marley's next century, where we continue to build for quality, driven by innovation and committed to sustainability."
Kumar also pointed out that Marley's founders were young engineers and manufacturer representatives who listened carefully to their customers and quickly began to improve existing products to offer better industrial refrigeration solutions. Attitude and commitment that they continue to look for within the policies of their company.
Regarding the future, President Kumar shared a fairly clear position. "In the coming years we have a strategic path to double the size of our refrigeration business, which will come from the expansion of our product lines through R&D innovations as well as acquisitions." In addition, he added that they will continue to focus their work on meeting the needs of their customers with sustainable innovations.
Marley's Story
The history of the Marley brand dates back to the creation of the Power Plant Equipment Company in Kansas City, Missouri in 1922. In the mid-1920s, the founders L.T. Mart and Chester Smiley had patented new spray nozzles and other inventions for spray ponds, taking into account this teamwork they decided to combine their surnames to identify these inventive products, thus the name "Marley" was born. But it was only in 1928 that it was legally incorporated as a company, which was then acquired, in 2001, by the SPX Corporation, better known today as SPX Cooling Technologies.
