Colombia. Between August and November of last year, the project of "Thermal Districts in Colombia" carried out the process of calling and selecting proposals for thermal districts for the industrial sectors, and clinics and hospitals. This, with the aim of identifying opportunities for thermal districts in different market niches, which can also be replicated in the national territory.
Thus, seven proposals were selected, out of 16 submitted, to receive assistance in their definition and materialization.
For the third call for projects in the industrial sector, the proposals for a thermal district in the industrial sector of Asomuña, in Bogotá, by Enel Emgesa, and the proposal of the industrial sector of the South of Cali, by Gases de Occidente were selected, to receive an amount, in Colombian pesos, equivalent to up to one hundred thousand US dollars (USD $100,000).
On the other hand, for the second call for proposals from the clinics and hospitals sector, five proposals were chosen in total, among which are included:
The proposal of thermal district for the General Clinic of the North in Barranquilla, of the company E2, the proposal of the Imbanaco Clinic and the Clinic of the West, both in Cali, the proposal of the Erasmo Meoz Hospital of Gases of the East in Cúcuta, and the proposal of the Primavera Clinic in Villavicencio, with the company Llanogas. Each of them will be assigned an amount in Colombian pesos equivalent to up to forty thousand US dollars (USD $40,000).
It should be noted that this support offered will be carried out in the form of studies and / or analysis required to guarantee the progress of the initiative towards its definition and / or possible materialization.
The proposals presented in this second and third call were oriented to seek initiatives of projects of thermal districts or existing air conditioning facilities, which wish to adopt the model of thermal energy as an outsourced service, through the implementation of measurement and allocation of thermal energy costs of this same for its internal users, and thus promote energy efficiency, the reduction of environmental impacts, and indoor air quality and productivity.
Likewise, with this advance of the calls, work continues on the proposed objectives of motivating the different sectors of the country to develop profitable business opportunities, which also promote environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, also responding to local and national government plans around the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals and the climate change goals.
