International. Greenheck announced the addition of Northern Light's® patented UV-C technology into its Amplify ™ line of aerial HVLS fans.
"We are excited to add this technology to our Amplify ceiling fans," said Tim Busby, general manager of Greenheck, fans. "This applied innovation will really make a difference in indoor spaces."
Amplify with Northern Light's unique and patented design combines the air-cleaning benefit of the room's ultraviolet lighting with the air circulation capabilities of ceiling fans. Superior room ultraviolet lighting systems (also known as UVGI) have been used for decades to help control airborne pathogens in medical facilities and are recommended by the CDC, ASHRAE, and other organizations as part of a multilayer strategy to reduce the risk of Covid 19 transmission. The addition of air movement has been shown to increase the effectiveness of UV-C.
With Northern Light technology, UV-C bulbs that do not generate ozone are installed inside the amplify fan blades and placed towards the tips of the blades where most of the air movement occurs for the most effective inactivation of pathogens. The upward lighting design directs UV-C light away from the occupants and towards the upper room where the fan circulates air, minimizing exposure to UV radiation, for safer operation of the system. The result is a system that is more effective than traditional air cleaning technologies at inactivating airborne pathogens and distributing clean air in occupied spaces.
"Greenheck is taking its Amplify ceiling fans to new heights by incorporating Northern Light UV-C technology," Busby added. "Large-scale testing of the Northern Light product has shown increased inactivation of airborne pathogens, while air movement from the Amplify fan increases comfort in commercial, institutional and industrial buildings."
Northern Light technology is currently available in Amplify DC-5 ceiling fans in four diameters ranging from 6 feet to 16 feet nominally with more models and sizes to be added.
