International. Schneider Electric ranked fourth in the annual corporate supply chain ranking, closely monitored by Gartner.
This is the sixth time Schneider has been listed in the top 25 list and underscores the company's ongoing efforts to strengthen and digitize its supply chain operations.
The company explains that this development comes against the backdrop of what has been an exceptionally difficult year: supply chain managers around the world have had to navigate disruptions caused by the pandemic, as well as a number of weather-related disasters and other disruptions, which often need to adapt quickly. and rethinking operations and establishing ways of working in response to rapidly changing circumstances.
Gartner's annual ranking identifies supply chain leaders and highlights their best practices, specifically celebrating supply chains that demonstrate alignment with the three macrotrends of purpose-driven integrated organizations, customer-driven transformers, and digital-first supply chains.
"It is a true honor to be held in such high esteem by our supply chain peers globally," said Mourad Tamoud, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Schneider Electric. "Leveraging our supply chain strategy, STRIVE, we were able to demonstrate resilience during a challenging year. We are also working hard to further decarbonise our operations and to engage our suppliers in decarbonisation in the same way, towards our goal of a net-zero carbon supply chain by 2050."
Earlier this year, Schneider was recognized by Corporate Knights as the world's most sustainable corporation and announced the acceleration of its ESG commitments and aggressive targets for 2025 to reduce CO2 with its customers and partner ecosystem.
As part of this commitment, Schneider recently launched Project Zero Carbon, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its supply chain. Under this initiative, the company will partner with its top 1,000 suppliers, which account for 70% of Schneider's carbon emissions, to halve co2 emissions from its operations by 2025. The initiative is part of Schneider's sustainability goals for 2021-2025 and is a concrete step towards limiting the average global temperature increase to 1.5°C or less by 2050, as proposed in the Paris Agreement.
Schneider's manufacturing facility in Lexington, Kentucky, was also recognized as an advanced beacon of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The Lexington headquarters is the third Schneider factory to receive this honor for success in adopting 4IR technologies at scale with proven benefits to date.
